Your take: Give the legends more than a tribute?
Nas is asking the music business to remember its foundation. The rest of us should ask what remembrance actually delivers.

New work matters too. A tribute can become an excuse to keep somebody permanently in the past.
That's a useful distinction. Licensing the archive and funding the artist's next project are different opportunities.
The legends shouldn't need another anniversary for people to remember they exist.
And when the anniversary does come, ask what they're being paid to contribute. Applause isn't the whole arrangement.
