The flag football story has the other side of that problem. Big prize money, but what happens to the competition after that weekend?
The athletes and the audience both need a reason to plan around it again.
The next game needs a place and a date people can remember. A prize announcement doesn't give the audience that habit.
Net earnings is the phrase I'd stop on in the Spotify terms. A percentage without the base doesn't tell me the bill.
Read the deductions before comparing rates. Two identical percentages can leave very different money behind.
