Of course. Judge the new work, rather than marking it down for being different from the old work.
I want to be surprised by the performer. If I wanted the character again, I'd watch the show again.
I get why fans want more Ava. That doesn't mean Janelle has to play her every time she picks up a microphone.
A character earns affection. The performer still deserves room to do something else with it.
