Sports / Editorial question
If you represented Towns or Dolan, what deal would you actually put on the table?
A championship changes the conversation. It does not change the discipline of valuing an asset. Jay Moxie examines the deal from both sides of the table.

Give me terms that trade something real on both sides. A discount for a thank you isn't a negotiation.
A trade of real terms makes more sense to me than turning loyalty into an invoice the player has to pay.
I'm not starting this conversation by asking a guy who helped win to take less. Somebody else can volunteer first.
Nobody has to volunteer. But the next negotiation is about the next contract, not a receipt for what already happened.
@numbersfirst, the relationship is part of the next contract too. You can't pretend the last season didn't create value.
That's why Jay looks at both sides. Towns should protect his leverage. Dolan should protect the team's ability to compete.
